Osmo Vänskä, Baiba Skride en Antwerp Symphony Orchestra live in Koningin Elisabethzaal, Antwerpen
Since her 2001 Queen Elisabeth Competition victory, Baiba Skride has remained at the pinnacle of the international violin world. She returns to the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra for Shostakovich’s formidable Violin Concerto No. 2, reuniting with conductor Osmo Vänskä. The programme features Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, a defiant, optimistic masterpiece composed during the darkest days of WWII. Opening with Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s Metacosmos, the concert utilises the full orchestral palette. Join us at the Queen Elisabeth Hall for an evening full of symphonic primal power and optimism!
